There is no doubt that contributor access is one of the best features Showit has rolled out so far. After fully integrating it into my process ( it’s super simple ) I thought it would be helpful to list out some of the major pros and cons of using the feature.
From the comfort of your own Showit account, it’s super easy to switch between client accounts. This saves you time and from remembering everyone’s password.
Speaking of passwords, with contributor access you do NOT have to have or store client login. Adding an extra layer of security and peace of mind.
As a contributor, you have access to pretty much everything needed to build and launch a site. The only thing restricted is your client’s subscription details.
I was so excited to start using contributor access with all my clients until I went to log in to their WordPress… yikes. The username and password are still needed to log into the WP admin dashboard. Just something to note should you need to access their WordPress.
There isn’t a way around this, clients need to go into their settings and add you as a contributor. However, it’s a pretty straightforward process, even for a Showit newbie. Find the steps here.
Overall I think that using contributor access is a MUST DO. It’s easy, more secure, and a professional approach. Is this something you do with your clients?
